Location, Location, Location Residents at UCSD are fortunate not only because of the excellent academic environment but also because they live in one of the countries most beautiful cities. San Diego is known for its great weather and beautiful coast line. Recreation is the name of the game in Southern California and San Diego offers it all. San Diego is located conveniently close to just about anything you can think of to do. Ballooning in Del Mar, Surfing in La Jolla, shopping and dining Downtown or even a day trip to Mexico. And, if that's not enough you are only a 2 hour drive from the slopes of Big Bear Mountain or the Borrego Desert. To find out more about our beautiful city go to www.sannet.gov to explore San Diego.
Housing Housing availability is generally very good in San Diego. Many new condominium and apartment complexes have been developed in the Hillcrest and La Jolla areas.
The Hillcrest area is in the Downtown area and is where our UCSD Medical Center is located. It is close to Balboa Park, the Museums, The Gaslamp District, the Zoo and PetCo Baseball Park.
The La Jolla area is where the VA Medical Center is located. You are close to the beach, shopping (University Town Center), the Birch Aquarium, Torrey Pines Glider Port and Park and much more. Rents usually run a little higher in this area compared to the Hillcrest area.
You may decide that the beach areas are the place for you - don't forget to look at Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, and Pacific Beach. Living on the coast will cost more than living in the East County areas.
In general rents range in price from $900.00 to $2500.00 per month for a one or two bedroom unit. Check out these links for real estate information: |
